Rejoice, Hello Kitty fans! Our adorable kitty finally opens her first official cafe in Malaysia and what’s better than just a Hello Kitty cafe? A Parisienne Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe, of course!
First, let’s take a look at the deco.
Okay, so that was the exterior. Now, moving on to the interiors.
And the wall deco are just lovely…
But no matter how beautiful and unique the decor is, food is still the heart and soul of a restaurant / cafe. After staring at the menu for 15 minutes and being told by the waiter that the waffles are out (we really wanted the waffles), we finally decided on Mushroom Risotto, Parisian Summer (pasta), Camomile Tea, Flat White and Churros for dessert.
The pasta is presented with the shape of Hello Kitty’s bow and the risotto is shaped like Hello Kitty with a beetroot jelly as the bow. They slapped two stocks of asparagus on Hello Kitty’s face too.
It tasted okay with the first few mouthfuls, but as I dug in further, it began to taste bland towards the center of Hello Kitty’s face. It felt like I was eating some tasteless sticky rice. The pasta was aglio olio style but it tasted bland after a while too.
No comment on the Camomile tea, because it’s tea. On the other hand, I was seriously disappointed with their Flat White. I’m not sure what happened but I think they served me a half-done Flat White.
Churros are a wee bit too sweet but it taste good with the strawberry dip. Oh, the churros are strawberry flavored.
The family seated next to us ordered Cheesy Chicken Ham Sandwich and it looks super adorable. We asked if we could take a picture.
Too bad we couldn’t order more but we photographed their pastries. Here we go![metaslider id=850]
Overall, I love the concept. Hello Kitty’s bow itself channels Parisienne chic. I can only hope that they improve their food. But it might also be due to the long day and over-flowing crowd that the chefs and baristas are exhausted, thus the sub-par food and coffee. It was their first day of business after all. Forgivable. I’m definitely going to back again and this time, pastries!
Do remember to reserve before going to avoid the crowds, especially during weekends. We waited for 4 hours before getting a table for two.
