W Hotel Seoul – A Luxury Urban Resort On A Hill

Along Han River, which cuts across Seoul City and a botanical background with Achasan Mountain as the backdrop, W Hotel has a fantastic river view that will steal your heart. Every trendsetter would absolutely love the exterior and interior design as well as the furnishing.

Checking In
Checking in was a breeze and no worries about language barriers because the employees working in the front office have a good command of English. I absolutely loved the uber contemporary interior design.

The RoomIMG_1864

The room I stayed in was the ‘Wonderful Room’ which had a spectacular view of the mountain landscapes. The rooms opposite would have a view of the Han River instead. The king size bed was by far the best bed I have ever slept in. You would sink into the soft mattress and never want to get up in the morning. The bed has white goose down pillows which are hypoallergenic so it would be relatively unlikely to cause any allergic reactions. The room is characterised with tasteful red and white sensual interior.

The room is characterised with tasteful red and white sensual interior. It is equipped with a 40″ flat-screen television, mini fridge, and the usual coffee and tea with a kettle and wine glasses.

With the modern egg chair and sofa beside the window, as well as the pebble carpet for our tired feet after travelling around Seoul, it definitely provided a luxurious, and refreshing experience.

One downside for many people would be the lack of free wifi in the room. High speed internet access in all guest rooms is about 22,000 KRW per day, unless you make a booking on Starwood websites as a SPG Member.

If you are the type that absolutely can’t live without wifi, I would recommend getting a pocket wifi from the airport or sent to your hotel / accommodation, or other wifi routers from KT Olleh or SK telecom.

The open bathroom was one of my favourite features of the room. Separated by a glass wall, the abundance of natural light is great for women when applying makeup and the lack of walls makes the space of the room feel larger. The open space gives you more room to move around  and it is a definite plus if you suffer from claustrophobia.

You can take relaxing bubble bath with a beautiful view of the mountain landscape to the relaxing music of the CD provided in the room with the CD player and BOSE Sound System.

The only pitfall is the lack of privacy if you were staying with a friend or someone you would not be comfortable showing some skin too.

NamuIMG_2280IMG_2275IMG_2278IMG_2285IMG_2272Wellness and relaxation
The hotels spa, ‘Away Spa’ is said to provide the ultimate urban resort experience of true wellness and refreshment. The spa includes a swimming pool, fitness centre, couples spa and massage centre, bathing pools and over 50 kinds of body and facial spa treatments.

Have a light bite with tasty spa preparations, W Style Korean cuisine, and cool cocktails at TONIC.

“Refresh at W hotel swimming pool WET, where you can also enjoy the most beautiful river view in Seoul”

IMG_2299The indoor heated swimming pool WET boasts of Seoul’s best view of the Han River. You can admire the beautiful view of Seoul City through exterior glass walls and high ceiling.

What We Loved: Spacious and great room design, the bed (obviously), natural scenery.

What We Didn’t Love: Location. It’s quite far from everything considering that it’s up on a hill top. There is a shuttle bus but taking a taxi is much faster but also more expensive.
