Setting Sail at Avillion Admiral Cove

Sometimes, you just want to run away from reality. And what better way than to spend a weekend getaway from our busy lives to go sailing for the first time and relax at one of Port Dickson’s popular waterfronts?

So I managed to win a 2 days 1 night stay at Avillion Admiral Cove in Port Dickson from Timberland Malaysia  and with great timing too because Ashley and I really needed some time to break away from our busy schedules. Port Dickson is a little over an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur and is one of the popular spots for short getaways and spending time at the beach. The hotel isn’t too hard to find although on a busy weekend, parking can be quite sparse.

The room was relatively spacious and we had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. Everything was pretty clean, especially the bathroom, which is always a plus point with us. There is even a partition to separate the bed from the other parts of the room. Comfy bed, adequate amenities, a decent breakfast. But the thing we loved most about the room was definitely the view.

I did not know that such key cards existed. I have only ever seen those regular key cards you see nowadays or actual keys. Ashley was laughing at my fascination.

The pool was a nice place to relax. We had a nice night swim with a gorgeous view of the stars. It is rather small and can be crowded with children during the day so if you don’t like crowds, opt for a night swim. We had the whole pool to ourselves.

Timberland was also cool enough to include a cruise experience for us worth RM180 per person. I was really excited because I had never gone sailing before and it was a really great experience!

Looks like someone is a fan of Gone With The Wind. Most of these yachts and boats belong to members of the Yacht club at the cove.

IMG_4703After sailing out to sea, the wind picked up and we had a really good breeze. We even got to sit on the bow of the yatch and it was amazing! We found out that the sailors actually participated in sail racing competitions and were great company to talk to. Just one of the best things about travelling and going on holidays. You meet some really interesting people.

If you are interested in the cruise experience, I would advise you to choose an evening slot like around 5pm because it won’t be too sunny and hot. You’d also get to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

The hotel even prepared some snacks for us while we relaxed. Not as fancy as wine and cheese, but honestly, I liked the simplicity.

I got to pick out a cool trench coat from Timberland too which I really loved. Perfect for when I travel during more chilly seasons.

What We Loved: The sailing. It was a really great way to relax and it’s great that the hotel offers many different activities to do while staying there.

What We Didn’t Love: There was very limited parking space, although it’s free. The TV in the room and the remote weren’t working but at least we had other activities to entertain us with rather than just sitting in the room watching TV.
